VASST.info

VASST.info, the Very Amateur Society of Science and Technology is a dual exhibit in partnership with Little Berlin and is curated by Beth Heinly. VAAST.info will be on view at Breadboard’s EKG space from April 29th through May 28th, 2011, with an opening reception on Friday, April 29th from 5pm to 9pm at 3600 Market Street. The following Friday May 6th, VASST.info will open at Little Berlin from 6-11pm.
VASST.info investigates the pairing of science and art by asking select artists to produce a science experiment. As a result the artists have brought forth unique views of science ranging from biology, chemistry and physics to — acoustics, psychology, astronomy horticulture and anthropology. VASST.info is also a website. The artists have been asked to post articles, photos, thoughts and research related to their work on the site.

Science Talks will be hosted Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the month of May at both NextFab Studio and Little Berlin. The talks invite scientists to lecture about an artists’ project that relates to their own research and/or interest.
The first talk will be Tuesday, May 10th 7pm at Little Berlin (2026 HAGERT St.
Philadelphia, PA 19125). Allen Crawford aka Lord Whimsy will speak about Jake Kehs piece. The talk is central to agriculture in Philadelphia.
